I have had major heat soak issues in the past with cars that have had pods bolted on. The worst was a twin pod FD3S.
The Supra was pretty bad, it had huge increases in cold side FMIC temps once the engine bay was fully heat soaked. With a modified airbox (feeds from under the headlight) it made the same numbers on dyno but was far more stable on long runs on the track.
Those were both packed engine bays and high boost high hp applications though, the 86 may have enough space and air flow for it to be a non issue.
