I had a couple of thoughts... it's very nice that this kit requires no cutting BUT if someone weren't to mind doing so how does this sound?

-Replace battery with small, lightweight version and relocate either somewhere else in the engine bay or to the trunk.
-Flip the filter over to the stock battery position and house it in a custom airbox to protect from the heat of the engine bay.
-Remove the passenger side 86 emblem on the fender and cut a port to the airbox.
-Replace with louvered type scoop (not huge) facing forward feeding directly into the airbox.

I'm no expert but it seems to me like the turbo would be far more efficient if the air being fed to the compressor was cooler and denser. Seems like this would lead to reaching desired boost quicker (possibly not noticably) and reducing air temps post-compressor due to lower start temp....

Does that seem like sound theory? What are folks' thoughts on this?

Scoop would be something along these lines but obviously facing forward as the goal is not to expel are but to gather it and obviously designed to look decent in that position on the car.
