If you're not planning on modding it enough to void the warranty than it could be a good buy with the extended warranty. I have a lot of customers who prefer the Certified Pre-owned option as a way to have longer coverage. You don't save much money over a new car, though. The dealer will probably try to tell you the mileage costs work out to about $.25/mi like they would on a lease, or about a whopping $75. You'd do well to try and negotiate the price down, anyway.

I wouldn't be worried about someone beating on the car. Unless the entire sales staff literally gives zero shits about the cars on their lot, I don't think anyone could have done anything bad enough on a test drive to potentially cause problems in the long run. And if they do, something should probably manifest in the 6 years you have it under warranty so it'll get fixed fo' free.

My only question: is it the exact color/trim/transmission you want? Because if it isn't, don't bother! Wait 'til you can find the right one.
