If you read the full story of the little girl and her father that drowned you will find that they weren't fleeing violence.
The father worked in a pizza shop but was unhappy could not afford (at age 25) to buy his own house so he made the dangerous
journey to the USA with his wife and 2 year old daughter.
Good luck buying a house in the USA on pizza shop wages. Also he made it across the river once with his little girl, however
when he went back to help his wife across, the little girl jumped in the water after him. When he tried to get her he lost his
footing and was swept down stream. Its very sad that this happened, but the only way to prevent this would be to offer the
immigrants transportation from El Salvador to the US city of their choice.
