if your 3m tape didn't work its probably because you didn't prep the surface right or use the right kind of tape. I have a similar duckbill on my supra held on with 3m tape for over a year now and I have no idea how I will ever pull it off if I want to without ripping the paint off.

if you really are using the automotive 3m doublesided tape, get your self some 3m adhesion promoting wipes and wipe down the tape surface prior to trying it again. I literally don't think I could pull mine off if I wanted to right now.

With that said, I have also used some dow corning 732 caulking to put on a carbon fiber diverter on my fender and barely got that shit off. The cleanup process to get the remains of the silicone off the paint once the piece was off was a pain in the ass and I wouldnt suggest it.
