I now have 4 autox events, only one of those was in the dry, with these coilovers. The one dry event I did have was a champ tour sporting my well worn 225mm RE71's from street class last year. Not having a whole lot of seat time, my 2nd event of the year, I under drove and was not even close to the new limits of the car.
The following 2 events in the rain the car was a handful. I chocked it up to me not being used to the car. 12 events on my street class RE71's that had been flipped on the wheel left the outsides and now the insides pretty well smoked. I was slower than last years street class competition, I was 42/79 in pax where I used to be top 10 fairly consistently.
For today's event I had on a fresh set of 245mm RE71's while still figuring out the setup I was 2/43 in pax and raw time in the rain. I managed to hit 12 cones in 10 runs for the day.
The car drove really well and was very predictable. I felt I had tons of grip the balance felt spot on to really start pushing the car. I was starting to get some nice 4 wheel slip angle out of the car. I left the shock settings on their street setting given the conditions, 65 degrees and rain.
Many of the local drivers I usually compare myself to are driving different cars this year and are in the same boat, getting accustomed to their car. While only a local event I think the result is promising. I'm excited to get some more seat time and hopefully some dry weather with the setup.
Video from the event is below. My fastest clean run which is a bit jerky and my fastest dirty run. I think the rear end stepped out a hair crossing the finish and it shoved the 2 double cones out of their boxes. Driving tips are always welcome.
