Oh, I'll change my opinion in a heartbeat. I'm on my second transmission. It's a long story but I know exactly what I did to my first. Other experienced ears couldn't hear it but I know I found the limit. I took it out of service to keep it from wearing out of whack before getting around to replacing the input shaft bearing. Besides, I want to build a track-only trans. I digress.
If you gently lean on each of the syncros just for a moment with the clutch disengaged, engine idling, does the sound change dramatically?
Also, I've heard of TOB retaining pins falling out.
