The reason that E85 is such an excellent fuel is that it requires a lot of heat energy to vaporise, so it essentially 'sucks' heat out of the air as it vaporises the fuel, cooling the air as it does so, and we all know the benefits of a cold charge.

The flip side is that on cold mornings, there isn't enough heat to vaporise the fuel. After a few attempts, the compression warms up the system a bit and she fires.

Also, if you don't like the loud 'cold start' idle, just give it a bit of throttle (~2000rpm). Nice and quiet.
