Start with small mods and work your way up to bigger things. No one is born knowing how to do things. I did a V8 swap but there was a time long ago when I didn't know how to do an oil change. It was a long self learning process. Mistakes will be made but honestly it still ends up costing less than paying a shop. Set aside more time than expected for any work and look at a couple of install videos for the mod before attempting. No risk no reward.
