1) Yup.
2) I've got a BatteryTender JR that came with my '98 BMW bike. Still works fine.
-- One of the SAE terminals got stretched a bit once and I have to wiggle the terminal a bit to get steady lights. Works fine then. I'll have to fix it, someday.
3) Some parachute cord wrapped a few times around would do it if you're good with knots. To each their own.
