Regardless of power, this car was made purely, strictly, and solely for handling. Putting on a tire that is not wide enough for the rim (an offest likely far outside the intended limits of the suspension) which then puts you at risk of the tire blowing off the rim when you get near limits is the -opposite- of what this car was designed for.
Stretch on a 100hp VW which was designed as a passenger car, is slammed beyond belief, and has a bike rack, rusted hood and chromed engine bay...sure...have at it.
If this car will never see a track day or auto-x event, I guess go for it. I guess if you are drifting and cant afford wider tires and burn them up often, go for it. If you are just going to hardpark one of the most balanced cars to be released in a decade...stretch away.
