Gutted or not, an electric engine and its batteries (which aren't cheap to begin with) are very heavy, and one of the focuses of the FR-S/BRZ was weight savings. But what "50/50 balance" are you talking about? I'm pretty sure the car's existing weight distribution is slightly front-biased along the lines of 53/47 or so.

I'm sure it would be a fun project, but it's highly impractical, as you would pretty much have to give up the tiny backseats and likely a good portion of the already small trunk to fit the batteries.
