I installed that black/red sliding FR-S armrest in my BRZ. It rides higher than the hinged armrest and preserves the use of the center console compartment and also provides access to the cupholders to a certain extent. I like it.
I'm surprised to see it show up on JDM cars. I thought they were stuck with the low hinged armrest that makes the center console useless while driving, while the sliding armrest was a US thing.
