I'm running Speedwell Fully Forged RS-R in 18x9.5 +40 (18.9lbs each) on my FRS, on Meister Zeta CRD coilovers, and had 255/35/18 Accelera tires (Also have tried PSS and Pirelli P-Zero Neros). I've put around 12k miles on this wheel setup.

To answer your question, the car is still very driveable with 18x9.5 wheels and I don't have any fitment/rubbing issues. I don't think that they feel sluggish at all even with the stock tune and a few bolt-ons, and the car is still extremely fun to drive every day. Maybe I'm just used to how slow the car is, LOL. They also have a nice concave face and will fit with your BBK, with a lot of room left to go even bigger.

The only issue with these wheels is that they don't clear the factory struts, so you would need coilovers to run them. In my opinion, these are a great option for a daily driven 86 and for the price, you can't go wrong!
