As I have said many times they are all "new ones". The changes made in 17 will allow you to go a bit higher boost than the "old" engine but there really is no safe point when adding boost. There is an increase in risk as soon as you change anything from stock so it is just a matter of what level of risk you are willing to accept. If keeping boost turned way down you are headed into a spiral of diminishing returns on costs and may be better off just staying NA but going E85 and a good tune.
