It isn't "bugs" the vertical surfaces are being protected from in the enclosed transporters, it's forms of metallic dust and industrial fallout that can etch into the topcoat that requires an extra step to remove during PDS.

I feel like I see transport trucks all the time for all types of cars including luxury brands and that includes Toyotas/Lexuses. This is California, so I’m sure states with snow or bad weather might get different treatment.
