Just got my car back from the valve spring recall. I wasn't planning on having it done since I wasn't worried about the stock springs failing (they've survived 100k miles and several track days) but my cam carriers were leaking and it was much cheaper to have them resealed during the recall then as stand alone job. I did a lot of research when I first heard about the valve spring issues, and I honestly think people are making a bigger deal out of this then there needs to be. As stated above, the odds of failure are very small and the bad ones would likely have failed by now due to the age of the car. On the flip side most dealership techs are far more skilled then people give them credit for (I was a tech for 3 years) so the odds of your engine being destroyed after having the work done is also very slim. My advice would be to hold off on the recall until other major work is needed so you can save some cash. Odds are the vast majority of owners will experience no issues before or after the work is performed.
