Not that I won't send to them before I dumpster the whole thing, but it seems worthwhile to attempt myself before I resort to it.

That's disappointing, but hopefully an isolated issue. I wouldn't use the impact on any of these parts. You'll want a wrench for the pins and then turn the big bolt.
