Not sure if I'm going to have the repair done at the dealership premisses or not...

Here's how my engine sounds currently:
Damn. That didn't last long.

I understand the dealers are trying everything they can to weasel their way out of losing money... but I can't wrap my head around how they can possibly say these engine aren't on them.

You take an engine pretty significantly apart, a few hundred miles later it blows up... that's on you. It isn't the old "ever since you changed my headlight the transmission shudders" complaint.
