My point was that people seem to think that NHTSA is somehow going to help them fight Subaru/Toyota in getting the repairs covered for free or make them do it "right". They aren't. That isn't what they do. Yes if they feel it is a safety issue they will say as such but that is far as their "help" will go.
And to add to it, don't forget the recall was NOT an NHTSA mandated recall. It was a voluntary recall by Subaru/Toyota.
