There are two Ontario cars listed in the failed after repair category. Both had their engines replaced without issue by the dealer. I suspect we will see a much lower failure rate here since our techs have to be licensed and may be several levels better than those in the US. One of the threads explains the difference between the qualifications.
The issue was with the removal and/or application of the sealant on the covers. They were blocking the oil channels and the engines were spinning bearings. Subaru updated the work instructions to very clearly show what has to be done to avoid the issues. I believe we will see a drop off in the failures.
That's super reassuring, thank you. If I was in a position where my engine fucked up from the recall, I literally wouldn't have the time to fight for them to fix it let alone have the money to cover any damages
