I figured they were going to make you pay for it. Unless your car is within the 3/36 warranty or 5/60 powertrain then everyone will be out of luck after the recall. The recall does not state if catastrophic failure occurs after the recall that they are responsible for it, especially if it doesn't relate to the "valve springs". And most dealership will not own up to it if it was technician error. Toyota and Subaru know they have multiple issues with the early FA20 but only now they want to do something about it after all affected vehicles are out of factory warranty. You could escalate the issue to service director or corporate and they could "goodwill" the LKQ engine or the needed parts for a short block and then you just pay labor. I prefer the LKQ because its plug and play vs the tech messing up again if they did. That's the best and maybe only scenario from here. Hoping for the best!
