At least, that's my theory...in reality I'll probably get the recall work done if I get the letter...and keep fingers crossed, but at least have a "warranty" to fall back on. That said, I'd rather have a BEAMS than FA20...all things even (ie, not involving me paying thousands for a swap).

Looks like you have some experience with Toyota 4 cylinders, but not a Beams, right? Are you thinking BEAMS over K20/K24 because of keeping it Toyota?
The other caveat to the K20/24 swap is Pure Automotive offering a Motec plug and play solution. That is tempting if only to save days of wiring headaches. Might be worth the extra money.
I’m admittedly naive about wiring, but I’m curious if it would be possible to adapt the FA20 wiring harness to a 3sge engine. Like if I used the FA20’s throttle body onto a custom intake manifold wouldn’t that work? Couldnt the wires for the coils work for the 3sge or for aftermarket replacements? I dunno. Could that work with an ECUtek? I dunno.
