I found the perfect o-ring at Hime Depot that tapers down nicely so the more you push it in the fatter it gets but it has no impact on the rattle. It seems pushing it off to the side is the only thing that works from this easy to access plate. I give up for the day. The next attempt will be to completely remove the unit and see what else I can come up with. I may buy a used one off eBay and use that one as my guinea pig.
Kind of bummed it wasn’t easy to fix.
