Originally, I thought it might be low power steering fluid or something, but it isn't a continuous squeak when the wheel is held left or right, so now I think its just something squeaking in the steering column.
Would it be possible to post a pic of where you're saying to spray the grease? I'm thinking of trying this to resolve my squeak but I don't want to spray grease where it doesn't belong.

Pictured is the gas pedal. To the left you see the steering shaft, the back rubber boot at it's base is stationary and the shaft is greased to slip in it as it turns. You can see this one has green grease showing. get some in there in between the shaft and boot.
If you want, you can peek under the dash while turning the wheel to see if that's the thing making your nose first.
