Granted the sales for the 86/BRZ are declining. However if you look at the direct competitor the MX-5 the sales figures are not that different.

By this I mean the sale figures in 2018 for the MX5 in the US is not that far off the 86 and BRZ combined. We are talking roughly 1000 units difference give or take.

Now this is combining the sales of the BRZ and 86 in the US in 2018 and comparing it against the MX-5.

In 2018 the MX-5 sold 8,971 units
The BRZ sold 3,834 units
The 86 sold 4,133 units

Total Twins sales = 7,967 vs the MX-5 selling 8,971 units

So what this means... lol I dunno just thought I'd share this info, might not even be that correct. Didn't exactly research it more than a few mins.

However Mazda will continue to crank out MX-5s after selling that many. So it isn't impossible to imagine this platform sticking around. Now those sales being split between the manufactures and I have no idea what sort of overhead is involved with both models.

Oh yeah and the Stock market is gonna crash this month, I know some old guy from my neighborhood who isn't high up the ladder in wall street but he knows peeps. Who said we are all gonna be poor with horse and buggys very soon. So not like anyone will be able to afford a new car anyway ;P
