People wanted the Supra because if you put $10-15k into it in overnight parts from Japan then you will demolish all including a Ferrari. If you spend $10k on the Eclipse you don’t beat a RX7, and your floorboards could pop off at high speeds. The Jetta didn’t get a following either because you will just slightly lose to a S2000 with $100k into a built SR20 motor.
Actually the Eclipses had a great following until the next gen came out and even the second movie couldn’t save them. But that green Eclipse has been copied probably more than any other car from the movie. It was even given more screen time in the cult teenage classic
