Now come on, spill the beans about certain telescopes that use crazy amounts of mercury and why the entire town was closed down, you must know the truth.

First off, the government has come a long way in tracking down people and things, even in Harnett County, NC, since the revenuers were looking for your grandpa and his still(s).

As far as closing towns down because of mercury, you will have to be more specific. Several communities have been closed down because of heavy metals.-

Which brings to mind a story -

Back in the mid 70s me and my dirt bike riding buddies spent many a days down in San Benito County, CA, riding our dirt bikes around the 8,000 acres of the old New Idria quicksilver (mercury) mines.

Yep, shorts & T-shirts, no respirators, lots of dust, riding up and down the tailing hills and rummaging through the old buildings.

Little did we know!

Now, you know why I am, the way I am - sometimes -
