To this day there are people that are still convinced that Scion was an entity of its own that called shots on design, engineering and in some way had an influence over the cars. The reality was that Scion consisted of 30 some odd marketing people that flogged the marque over the internet. No doubt many of their jobs consisted of roaming social media and forums linking the ads and promoting the brand whenever they could. Their whole goal would have been to attempt to get the ads to go viral but they were so lack luster and missed the target demographic but such a huge mark it never really worked. In the long run it was the downfall of Scion.
Kia did the same sort of thing with the Soul hamsters but with much greater success.
Which would be more likely to catch the attention of a 20 something with enough income to buy a new car?
