My 86 is an MT if that makes you feel better. My 13 was an AT, so I can say with some confidence it was just as "involving" as the MT is. The auto-blip downshift was great fun, I might go so far as to say "involving", and mine had a second pedal, a brake, which took some skill to use. In fact, it was pretty much the same as an MT when it came to making decisions and acting on them. You know, being a "driver".

ETA: Do you do the "pedal dance" to disable your nannies you hate so much?
He had the nerve to say I wasn't a car enthusiast but a shifting enthusiast...what kind of shit is that? He is absolutely wrong to say that and I have no issue calling anyone out on that sort of BS.

If you think an automatic with paddles and rev-matcing is the same as driving an actual manual then we'll just disagree there.

As for the nannies...no cruise matching, auto parking, lane assist, etc in my cars and I prefer it that way. The type of nannies where it practically begs fools to stop paying attention then get mad when they rear end you.

Backup cameras and blind spot monitoring are good things BUT folks blindly rely on them way too much these days. There is no replacement for physically turning to look and being aware of your surroundings.
