If it's cost effective to have it balanced, I suggest you have it balanced and keep the receipt with a note from the shop, that it was in fact out of balance.

Then send a copy of the receipt and the shop's statement to the seller and ask him to pay half of the cost to have had the driveshaft balanced.

If the seller refuses, chalk that up to experience - about buying used stuff.
