Anything related to technology? Pretty wide spectrum, but also fairly easy to distinguish if one is in tech or not.
Examples:
If you're an automotive engineer, you're working on some vehicle technology; you're in tech.
If you're selling cars at a dealership, you're not in tech.
If you're a journalist for politics, you're not in tech.
If you're a journalist writing about software/hardware technologies, then you're in tech.
