VerusEric: my guess on where it went wrong:
1) it wasn't bottleneck like eg. filter part, where improvements are noticeable everywhere
2) it might have needed according ecu tune changes (like some long tube headers eg. ace's, that performed bad with stock & canned stage2 tunes for other headers)
3) maybe it's not just about shape, but also different inner surface finish?
