My rule of thumb is not to install anything that isn't damn-near 100% reversible and to keep all OEM parts in storage in the event the car should need to be sold or traded for any reason. Life changes fast, often times unexpectedly. People's tastes change, too.
In 2015, I was able to convert my 2013 BRZ completely back to stock and recoup about 75% of the cost of my mods (which were nearing $20,000) to trade it in for a very fair number when I found a great deal on a 911; wouldn't have been so lucky if I sold off all my stock parts and tried trading in a heavily modded car.
My '17 carries the same mantra, though I'm going much lighter on the mods this time around.
