there's a reason why some car manufacturers partner up with specific tech schools to ensure the schools provide a constant stream of mechanics/techs that are trained to work on their cars... my buddy went to school to specifically become a MBZ tech... yes, he may a good idea of how to work on other cars, but he is specialized in MBZ

And all techs are trained on the basics. None are baffled when a new engine is placed in front of them.
Once somebody is trained on one make they can't manage any others? Do you only know what part of your job and if something different comes up you stand there drooling?
