Granted, some rods wouldn't be a war stopper, but a revised gear box most definitely would.
I believe, take this with a grain of salt, that a factory boosted twin with a drivetrain to suit would add around 10k$ to the cost, at least.
Simular to a Impessa vs wrx, or wrx vs sti.

This is exactly what I tried to explain to someone and they totally denied it and said it was super easy and cheap for Subaru to do.
