Does she have a "family vehicle" to drive?
You may be onto something about her not saying anything about a small car, especially when traveling with a baby.
If that's the case, you should "speak"
for her. For example, the baby is crying in the back seat, she twists and turns and struggles to get the pacifier back into its mouth, but doesn't say anything - that's where you need to speak for her "maybe we should get a bigger vehicle while the child is small"?
