Five years ago, I traded a perfectly good NC Miata in on our FR-S. Why? Because we had toured 88,000 miles of the mid and northern parts of the US from the West coast to Saint Louis and Western Canada.
Now, the plan was to tour the Southwest and South. mrs humfrz was tired of the cramped, top down, roadster mode of transportation, so, I looked for a coupe (a bit larger, more room and quieter) that was still fun to drive. Bingo, the FR-S fit the bill -
Meanwhile, out daughter and son-in-law had a third child. Yep, you guessed it, we became daycare grandparents and it is impossible to separate ma-ma from her granddaughter.
So, the long haul touring with the FR-S is on hold.
