Sapphirehero is right. One piece is smoother engaging and less noisy. My stock shaft had lots of play. I can't say my aluminum driveshaft shop one made the car faster but it did improve my driving experience. And for $350or whatever, it's a must in my opinion. If you have patience, you can get em used. I sold mine a couple months ago cuz it won't fit my LS build
