Something else to consider is that if the tire is chopping,the struts may be losing their capacity and leaking. I've seen this wear on vehicles when the spring is going most of the working, causing it to hop around. You end up with strange wear like that.

Since you've had caster, camber and toe checked, and are comfortable with them, I'm not sure what else it could be aside something allowing play in the wheel/tire

EDIT: The rest of the world refers to this as " cupping"
