My father-in-law builds engines and has done so since the 60's. He buys cars with issues, fixes them (he does everything from upholstery to body work to rebuilding the engine but the engine is his specialty). The dude has 10w-30 running in his veins.
He says Amsoil is the best oil on the market, but it is very expensive and it's hard to find (you have to know a vendor in most cases- in my area I only know of one place that carries it in stock).
He says that Mobil-1 is not as good as it used to be. He pointed to some oil analysis from a few years ago and personal experience.
Royal Purple is the best oil overall. Easy to find, not too expensive and it is a great oil- almost as good as Amsoil. My wife and I both run RP on his suggestion.
