If you are looking just for something to wrench on as a hobby, you can get decently made pullies that probably* won't break anything. You are going to see shortly all the various opinions on the effect of said pullies so I hope you are strapped in lol. Rule Number One of Pulley Club, you do not talk about Pulley Club.

It's not the pulley that fails, it's the things attached to the pullies that can fail due to a bad pulley/harmonic balancer (look that one up). This includes your crankshaft. You REALLY don't want your crankshaft to fail. I'll leave you to ponder that for the next few pages...
