The manager must be a hillbilly when it comes to cars Made in Japan. Most Japanese automotive glass if not all are made by Asahi Glass for like forever so it would have their name etched on the corner.
EDIT: I just went and checked mine and it reads "AGC Automotive", in the old days it just reads "Asahi" like on our old Integra, the Civic we had from the same era was made locally here and they used PPG instead.
