I also know that intakes make negligible to no performance difference and is why I'm being real and saying I just want that deep engine bay sound. Anyone know any options that I can get that sweet sound without removing my bumper? Also, must be able to pass smog in CA.

just get any of the aftermarket intakes available for our cars and remove the top if it has one. The grimmspeed intake is around $300 (half that used) and has a lot of cone induction noise when you remove the cover. The hood keeps a lot of hot air from getting in anyway. The injen and K&N intakes are similarly cheap if you buy used. the AIRAID cai is one of the cheapest available for our cars and IMO it is one of the best sounding. Very deep and throaty.
