Will being easy on the car for 1000 miles really bother you?

I know I don't remember much of my first 1000 miles. But I definitely remember having 53k trouble free miles and not having to worry about her on my many trips 20 hours away from home. crap now I'm giving anecdotes.
The internet is full of people that feel they know better than the engineers that built the car and wrote the manual.
Now is when everybody jumps in and says "but the manual was just written by lawyers to protect the company from liability".
