Unless someone can compile hard data, not anecdotal "I've had eleventeen cars that I dropped the clutch at 7k RPM out of the dealer lot and never had issues", then why go against what a manufacturer (of pretty damn reliable cars) says in their official Owner's Manual?
Will being easy on the car for 1000 miles really bother you?

I know I don't remember much of my first 1000 miles. But I definitely remember having 53k trouble free miles and not having to worry about her on my many trips 20 hours away from home. crap now I'm giving anecdotes.
