Just because something is the same paint code does not mean it is the same colour. The paint on the car fades a little just from normal weather and when you add something like a fender or bumper the difference can be startling. When body shops change or paint parts they have to blend the new paint into the old so the one section doesn't stand out. Well... Some shops can blend red (or any other color) that is faded, but it is tricky. And, paint often ends up a different color on a plastic bumper as it does on a metal fender. Don't ask me why, but it does. So, getting a perfect match, even when you repaint the whole car, CAN be difficult.


Painting a bumper though is not rocket science. It can be done in your driveway and look ok. A paint booth will (usually) give a better result.


OP, if you have never painted any car parts before, I would suggest finding someone with experience to help you.
