It sounds like the ND is what you really want. You don't need our permission, man, go for it.

I'd take an 86 over an NC, too. The ND is just so much better. I had recently bought my first Miata, an NB, when the NC came out. I was mega excited about the NC until after the test drive. IMO the ND fixed everything wrong with the NC and kept everything that was good about it.
