I'm actually back to where I was about a year ago. Stuck between this new MX5 and a new 86/BRZ. STI is back to stock and I'm really wanting to go back to a small FR car around the end of the year.

I liked my old FRS, but there were some things I wasn't a fan of that have since been corrected. I'm a big fan of the new 4.3 gearing and the updated interior for sure. Not to mention the other small changes they've made with the engine and transmission. Feels much nicer out of the box compared to my old one.

At the same time, I drove an ND a couple years back and fell in love with it. The top down experience is so fun, even for just simple commuting. I love the engine of the MX5 more than the 86/BRZ without a doubt. The transmission issues are really not an issue any more with the most recent version (v4) from what I've seen. The one I drove had an exhaust and tune and felt as quick as my old FRS with headers, intake, exhaust, and tune.

The fact that they added 25hp more and increased redline from 6.8k to 7.5k to this means it's even better out of the gate. I'm also really happy that they finally added a telescoping steering wheel. At the same time though, still no glovebox or real storage in side the car. The trunk is more useful than some may think looking at pictures, but definitely not as good as the 86/BRZ.

MX5 will never be as practical as the 86/BRZ. But now, my wife has a Tacoma instead of a Focus, so the need for a load of cargo/passenger space isn't necessarily a big deal anymore.

Daaaaaaaaammmmnnnn! What to do?
