I'm currently working on fixing this as well! You will need:
The OpenFlash Tablet itself
DataZap account
RomRaider v0.5.9
MAF Scaling v2.5.1
OpenFlash Manager 1.32
Disclaimer: this is just what I did personally after a few hours of research and trial and error. It fixed my LTFT issues and car feels much more lively. I have Grimmspeed CAI and JDL catless header. There is probably a better or faster way but this is working for me. This is what I did:
1. Install all software needed
2. Go to OFT website and download the latest tunes for your car. (I'm using OTS_v4.03 for the quiet startup). I'm assuming you have already flashed a OFT tune and know your Calibration code.
3. Extract the OTS zip file, load RomRaider and select the correct ECU definition XML file. Then make a copy of your current OFT tune and call it like "Stg 2+ v4.03 - My Tune" (Stg 2+ because I have catless header). If you already have the latest tune installed, you can skip this step. Otherwise, write it to the OFT tablet.
4. Go to car, plug in OFT and flash tune if you don't already have the latest tune installed. Setup OFT to show data for Engine Speed, Engine Load, LTFT, STFT, MAF Voltage, AFR, Fuel Sys status, Intake Air Temp, MAF, Command AFR, Throttle. I optionally have also logging Adv Multiplier, MAF, Knock Correction and KC Learned.
5. Go for a 1 hour drive with OFT connected and recording datalog. 30 minutes of casual street driving and 30 minutes of highway driving in 6th gear, preferably up long climb at constant speed. OFT records only up to 20 minutes so there will be 4 takes, or 4 datalogs total.
6. Use the Open Flash Manager to get the datalogs to your PC, then upload the logs into
DataZap so you can visually see the everything.
7. Go to "Closed Loop" tab. Basically follow the instructions in the leftside "Usage" tab. You can also find the same instructions on the
MAF Scaling Wiki.
You will need to copy the MAF Sensor Scaling table from your tune in RomRaider into MAF Scaling software "Current MAF Scaling" area, and also copy the Primary Open Loop into "POL Fueling" popup as well. Just have to make sure to keep copying the new scaling table it generates from the "Chart" tab into "Current MAF Scaling" before you run more adjustments.
8. Next do the "Open Loop" tab. Maybe not required if you have good log the first time, but might be a good idea to repeat another hour of driving and do 4 more logs and do another adjustment of Closed Loop before this for more accurate CL. But at least Open Loop is quicker to do as you just need 4-6 WOT pulls in 3rd or 4th. Better to do on highway at midnight weekend with no traffic.
7. Maybe optional but I also ran the MAF Scaling software to do MAF rescale option. Click "MAF Rescale" tab and follow the instructions to trim off the top upper parts of the scaling that will never be reached with the stock sensor. Looking at the datalogs in DataZap, mine tops out at 4.07v so I set the max to 4.3v for more headroom. I can probably go lower but I think this is safe and good enough. This changes the resolution and increases accuracy of the datapoints between min and max.
Just make sure the filters are correct so it can filter out junk data for OL and also CL adjustment.
This is very time consuming between all the driving, loading logs from tablet (really slow), writing to tablet (also slow), and flashing ECU. Also make sure the temperature consistent while datalogging, better to do it all in the same day. I'm still working on it but I can tell you my car definitely feels more alive after 2 CL adjustments and 2 OL adjustments. I had a problem with my LTFT in -18% in CL and -2% in OL. now its no more or less than 3% and -3%. SUCCESS!
